18 people a day file for a declaration of consumer bankruptcy
The number of applications for consumer bankruptcy is constantly increasing. Currently, 18 people file a petition for consumer bankruptcy every day. The courts, in turn, declare a total of 20 consumer bankruptcies a day. Compared to other Western European countries, where tens of thousands of bankruptcies are reported annually, this is still not much.
Experts stress that the number of consumer insolvencies should be much higher. A change in bankruptcy law may help to make it possible for people who are guilty of debt to declare bankruptcy.
