Mars One Ventures AG went bankrupt
On 15 January 2019, the Swiss court declared the Dutch company Mars One Ventures AG insolvent. The company’s representatives abstained from the official announcement due to the talks with the investor.
The company was founded in 2011 on the initiative of Bas Lansdorf and its task was to colonize Mars. In the course of the recruitment process, 200,000 people applied and the company created a list of 100 volunteers. The trip to Mars was to be recorded with cameras that would document the behaviour of “astronauts”. The first start was planned for 2024.
