The British carrier has filed for bankruptcy

The British airline flybmi has filed for bankruptcy. The company has been operating on the market since 1987 and has served routes to 25 cities in Europe. The company has 376 employees in several EU countries.

Since 16 February 2019, the airline has cancelled flights and grounded a fleet of 17 aircraft. In the Company’s opinion, the EU’s decision to exclude airlines from full participation in the UK Emissions Trading Scheme and brexit contributed to the financial problems of the flybmi.

Flybmi carried 522,000 passengers in 2018.
