Press problems

The press distribution market is dominated by three companies: IWP Ruch, Kolporter and Garmond Press. Apart from the individual problems faced by the first two, they share the remaining problematic issues.

The financial problems of Ruch were solved by carrying out a restructuring procedure, as a result of which it was taken over in 65% by the fuel concern PKN Orlen. The remaining shareholders are: PZU and PZU Życie (29%) and Alior Bank (6%).

Kolporter also had a delay in paying obligations towards publishers. However, it seems that this problem has now been resolved.

Common problems that affect all press distributors are the decline in advertising revenues and the waiting for the European Commission decision on zero VAT.
