More and more consumer bankruptcies

Last year was a record year in terms of the number of consumer bankruptcies announced.

Over 13,000 of them were announced. This is nearly 65% more than in 2019. Two factors may have contributed to such a large number of bankruptcies.

Firstly, in March 2020, the regulations facilitating the declaration of consumer bankruptcy were changed. Second, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has worsened the financial situation of many people.
