The RPO questions the takeover of Polska Press by PKN Orlen.
In this case, he appealed to the office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) against the consent to the takeover of the publishing group by the fuel and energy company. He is currently waiting for the letter to be submitted to the court which will consider the case.
This is not the only intervention of the Ombudsman (Ombudsman) in this case. Previously, he made efforts to inspect the documentation, on the basis of which the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection allowed the acquisition of Polska Press. The Commissioner for Human Rights argues that he is driven by specific motives, namely the fear of media concentration and the exerting influence of politicians on journalists working in the titles belonging to Polska Press.
