Restructuring aid for Przewozy Regionalne approved
The European Commission approved aid for the restructuring of Przewozy Regionalne.
The European Commission concluded that the financial aid granted to Przewozy Regionalne (today Polregio) is in line with the EU rules on state aid.
In 2015, ARP granted financial support in the amount of PLN 770 million to Przewozy Regionalne. This amount was allocated to the company’s restructuring, which ended in 2019. Thanks to the remedial measures taken, Przewozy Regionalne avoided bankruptcy and systematically recorded positive financial results. It is these positive aspects of the support that the European Commission indicated in the justification of its decision. Regarding the possible negative impact that the granted financial aid could have on competition, the Commission accepted Poland’s assurance that it would be quick to open up to competition.
