More restructuring than bankruptcy
The number of restructurings is increasing and the number of bankruptcies is decreasing.
There has been a significant increase in the number of restructuring proceedings and a decline in the number of bankruptcies announced. This trend is a derivative of the regulations introduced last year under the anti-crisis shields, which introduced a new type of restructuring procedure, referred to as simplified, and changed the provisions on filing bankruptcy petitions.
Restructuring is therefore decided by entrepreneurs running companies whose situation would qualify for bankruptcy. The changes to the regulations allow them to survive during the coronavirus pandemic and give hope that with gradual stabilization, their enterprises will regenerate.
