Hospitals are facing big changes

Work is underway on two draft laws relating to hospitals.

Under the first of the aforementioned Act, known as the Restructuring Act, the Hospital Development Agency will be established, whose task will be to restructure hospitals in poor financial condition and to develop financially well-positioned hospitals. Additionally, in accordance with the provisions of the bill, hospitals are to be divided into categories from A to D.

On the other hand, the Act on Quality in Healthcare and Patient Safety introduces institutions: compulsory authorization and voluntary accreditation.

Despite the concerns of the directors of institutions, the deputy minister of health assures that the two acts will be compatible with each other.

The deputy prime minister underlines that changes are primarily focused on long-term care.
