The sale of PBS was announced yesterday. The buyer is Wielkopolski Bank Spółdzielczy, which uses the brand neobank. Despite the shrinkage of the value of deposits in Podkarpacki Bank Spółdzielczy in Sanok, the bank from Poznań, thanks to the takeover, will be among the three or four largest cooperative banks on our market.
However, the merger of the two banks will not be easy. According to the doctrine, a cooperative bank cannot merge with a commercial one. In this case, it is possible to take over the banking enterprise and terminate the company with a commercial bank license.
