Nearly 1,600 small businesses have disappeared since the beginning of the pandemic. Most disappeared entities operating in manufacturing and trade.
On the other hand, the number of small businesses in the catering industry is growing. New transport entities are also appearing. On the other hand, the number of medium-sized companies decreased by 260 compared to 2019. This is mainly due to job cuts in industrial processing. Admittedly, the increase in industrial activity is high, but so far it has been distributed unevenly across industries.
Among mid-sized companies, real estate has the highest number of new entrants. This may be the effect of acquisitions.
In total, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS), 4,826,208 entities were registered in the REGON register at the end of November 2021.
