Good economic situation in industry

In the last month of last year the economic situation in the industry continued to improve, according to the PMI index reading.

The PMI index for Polish industry was at the level of 56.1 points. This is more than in November, when its value was 54.4 points. Economists rather expected it to fall in December.

Good situation in industry is a result of stronger growth of new orders and production. At the same time, however, logistics and transport are a challenge for industrial companies. The survey also noted that December saw the largest ever increase in inventories of means of production. Companies are stocking up, fearing problems with the availability of goods and increases in their prices. Forecasts for future production are optimistic.
