Spanish farmers bankrupted by war

In March this year, as many as 7.5 thousand Spanish agricultural companies went bankrupt.
The massive closure of such companies was influenced by the outbreak of war in Ukraine. In addition, local transport workers went on strike for 20 days. The result was supply shortages that forced some food manufacturers to halt production.
This protest was linked to a drastic increase in fuel prices, which was also affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The difficult situation of the agricultural sector in Spain is further exacerbated by the increase in prices of raw materials in Ukraine and their shortages. Spain is the largest importer of grain from Ukraine.
