Polmlek takes over again

Polmlek Group has filed an application with the Office for Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) for taking over Jagr from Warluby.

Jagr employs nearly 300 people and produces mainly butter, margarine and lard. It also offers homogenized cheese, among others. In 2020, the company had PLN 300 million in revenue and PLN 1 million in profit.

In turn, Polmlek is one of the largest players on the Polish dairy market. Together with its subsidiaries, it generates annual revenues of over PLN 4.3 billion.

If the acquisition of Jagr takes place, it will neither be the first nor the last transaction of this kind made by Polmlek. In 2015, the group expanded its assortment with, among others, juices thanks to the acquisition of Fortuna. On the other hand, in 2019 it took control of Lacpol, which has 11 production facilities.

Currently, Polmlek is finalizing the acquisition of cheese maker Ceko. Jerzy Borucki, co-owner of Polmlek, assures that there will be more transactions. In his opinion, consolidation gives a chance to strengthen Polish dairy and to stabilize situation of Polish breeders and milk suppliers.
