Banks record big losses
As of the end of September, as many as eleven commercial banks reported losses of about PLN 6 billion.
In September, the entire banking sector reported losses of PLN 2.8 billion, according to data from the Financial Supervision Commission. This was influenced by credit vacations.
At that, after nine months of this year, as many as 11 commercial banks were in the red. In total, their losses reached PLN 6 billion. The remaining banks showed a total profit of PLN 11.6 billion.
The net result of the banks was PLN 5.52 billion. This is 40 percent less than a year ago.
There are 30 commercial banks, 498 cooperative banks and 35 branches of credit institutions and foreign banks operating in Poland.
