Hospitals under restructuring

Hospitals under restructuring

In restructuring activities, medical institutions see recipes for improving their financial condition.

The municipal hospital in Miastko (Pomeranian Voivodeship) is struggling with financial problems. According to estimates, the facility’s liabilities amount to PLN 20 million. For this reason, the managers of this facility considered various scenarios, including liquidation of the hospital. Ultimately, however, a decision was made to undertake restructuring activities. They provide for both the merger of some branches and the extension of the range of services provided. The entire process is planned to take two years and contribute to improving the financial condition of the hospital.

It is worth adding that the situation of the hospital in Miastko is not an isolated case. The county hospital in Września has been undergoing restructuring for over two years, and the ongoing proceedings are prolonged due to disagreements between the facility and the creditor.

No wonder that those responsible for the situation of indebted hospitals decide to initiate restructuring proceedings. In the event of prolonged waiting for the adoption of the act on the modernization and improvement of the efficiency of the hospital sector, restructuring activities appear to be the best solutions to the existing financial problems.
