The number of consumer insolvencies continues to rise

Three years have passed since the introduction of the changes concerning the requirements of announcing the so-called consumer bankruptcy. During this period, the number of applications submitted by debtors continued to grow, and 12 000 debtors benefited from the liberalisation. According to data from the Central Economic Information Centre, the interest in consumer bankruptcy continues to grow. In January, 479 announcements of bankruptcy of natural persons were published in “Monitor Sądowy i Gospodarczy”. The same number of orders to declare consumers insolvent was recorded in February 2018.
