Fight against payment backlogs
The regulations, which entered into force at the beginning of the year, are intended to effectively combat payment gridlocks.
Payment gridlocks, i.e. the phenomenon of failure to meet payment deadlines in trade, causes many problems. Statutory provisions are to help in solving them. In the last few months, the office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) initiated 100 cases against companies suspected of long delays in settling their obligations towards their contractors. So far, the procedure against four entrepreneurs has been completed. Of these, two transport companies were fined.
We have explained in detail the legal issues related to payment gridlocks here.
