Entain Group to take over Totolotek

The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has published a proposal to take control of the bankrupt Totolotek. It was submitted by the Entain gambling group.

Entain is one of the largest players in the European and American gambling industry. It has over a dozen casino and bookmaking brands in its portfolio. Among them, two are most recognisable on the Polish market: Bwin and Ladbrokes.

Totolotek, meanwhile, was bought in 2019 by the German Gauselmann Group from Greece’s Interlot. However, the company has been making big losses recently. It has been hit hard by the pandemic. In 2020. Totolotek had PLN 170 million in revenue. This is 44 percent less than the year before. Its net loss reached PLN 60 million. In 2020, the company closed 118 ground points, and at the beginning of last year it completely liquidated its stationary network. A bookmaking expert says Totolotek is bankrupt. However, its licence can be used and the brand sold to Totalizator Sportowy.
