UOKiK punished three companies

The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKIK) imposed penalties on three companies for payment bottlenecks.

The penalty was imposed on Beiersdorf Manufacturing Poznań, the manufacturer of Nivea and Eucerin brand cosmetics. Now the company must pay PLN 35 thousand. In turn, Reckitt Benckiser Production, the producer of such brands as Woolite, Calgon or Finish, received as much as PLN 554 thousand in penalties and Firma Oponiarska Dębica – PLN 67 thousand.

UOKiK imposed penalties on these companies because of their problems with timely payments. The Office found that they contribute to the creation of payment bottlenecks in Poland. Beiersdorf Manufacturing Poznań generated PLN 10 million of congestion, Reckitt Benckiser Production as much as PLN 153 million, and Firma Oponiarska Dębica PLN 9 million. The amount of penalties is calculated based on the statutory formula which takes into account the scale of congestion and the length of payment delays.

Tomasz Chróstny, president of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection explains that companies that regularly fail to pay on time finance their activities at the expense of others.
