The Starachowice bus factory may lay off a quarter of its staff. The decision is due to the difficult economic situation.
MAN Truck and Bus has announced the need for restructuring due to the difficult economic situation. As a result, as many as 860 people may lose their jobs at the Starachowice plant. The number of buses sold by the company fell from about 7,400 in 2019 to about 4,600 in 2021. This year’s results are even worse, with only 2,800 vehicles sold in 10 months.
The company’s management does not expect the market and sales situation in the bus industry to improve quickly. Despite this, both the factory in Ankara, Turkey, and Poland’s Starachowice will continue production, but to a lesser extent. Poland is scheduled to produce 8 buses per day instead of 12, as at present.
