Consequences of the acquisition of Tesco
Consequences of Tesco’s acquisition by Netto.
In March, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) allowed the Danish hypermarket chain Netto to take over the British supermarket chain Tesco.
The restructuring process has now started. Several activities are planned under it. First of all, 85% of the stores operating so far under the Tesco brand are to be transformed into Netto. The remaining stores are to be closed. This entails the necessity to reduce the number of jobs. According to the plans, the redundancies are to cover a group of 1,200 people.
