The acquisition of Polska Press is suspended
The acquisition of Polska Press is suspended pending its decision by the court.
The Ombudsman appealed against the decision of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) to take over Polska Press by PKN Orlen. In accordance with the procedures, the letter was first submitted to the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, which has a three-month period to change its decision. After this period, the letter will be forwarded to the court. In the case in question, the letter still remains with UOKiK. Therefore, the Commissioner for Human Rights filed a relevant letter with the Court of Competition and Consumer Protection to suspend the execution of the permit to take over the publishing group until the case is examined. The court granted this request. Thus, PKN Orlen cannot currently exercise its share rights, i.e. manage Polska Press.
