The hotel industry is doing better

The increase in the number of tourists translates into an improvement in the condition of the hotel industry.

According to the data collected as part of the annual report “Hotel and condo hotel market in Poland 2022”, the hotel industry has dealt with the problems resulting from the coronavirus pandemic. Currently, there is an increased interest of tourists, which is comparable to the state before the pandemic. However, representatives of this industry point to other problematic issues affecting their functioning, namely:

  • a decrease in the number of foreign tourists, which was a consequence of fears arising from the war taking place across Poland’s eastern border,
  • limited possibilities of financing by banks and
  • high costs of running a business force to raise prices for stay.

It seems that it is possible to revise at least some of the conclusions contained in the report. This is prompted by the current numbers collected by the Central Statistical Office (GUS) for the first quarter of 2023. They prove that the aforementioned decline in the number of foreign tourists is no longer valid. It is clearly visible that the number of foreign guests is systematically increasing. Compared to the same period last year, this is an increase of as much as 45%.
